Islamabad, Pakistan — September 22, 2026 — International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Muhammad Abbas & Co., Chartered Accountants (“MAC”), a firm of Chartered Accountants registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a framework for academia–industry collaboration in technology development, innovation, and commercialization.

Under the MOU, IIUI’s Faculty of Computing & IT — including its Department of Computer Science — and MAC will work together to identify real business and professional-service problems that can be addressed through technology, and to develop practical solutions spanning artificial intelligence, automation, tax technology, accounting technology, audit technology, and other digital systems. MAC will contribute domain expertise, business requirements, and market context, while IIUI will provide technical and academic expertise through its faculty, researchers, and students.

The collaboration is expected to span five key areas:

  • Joint Research & Development — AI, automation, data analytics, tax technology, accounting technology, audit technology, and digital transformation
  • Product & Solution Development — software applications, AI solutions, ERP/business systems, tax and compliance platforms, and automation tools
  • Student & Final-Year Projects — industry-relevant problem statements, mentorship, and applied research opportunities for IIUI students
  • Internships & Employment — internships, industrial placements, and employment opportunities for IIUI students and graduates, subject to availability and merit
  • Technology Transfer & Entrepreneurship — a pathway from prototype to pilot and, where commercially viable, toward deployment — including linkage with IIUI’s Business Incubation Center (BIC)

The MOU is non-exclusive and establishes a framework for mutual collaboration rather than fixed obligations for either party, with specific projects to be documented through separate written agreements as they are developed and mutually agreed.
